We are interested in one of the fundamental questions of developmental biology, how do cells adopt specific cell fates based on their position in the embryo. In order to address this question, we take full advantage of the quasi-invariant development of ascidian embryos.

The cell fate team was created in 2001 and has three permanent staff: Hitoyoshi Yasuo (since 2001, CNRS researcher), Clare Hudson (2003, CNRS researcher) and Cathy Sirour (since 2011, ITA Sorbonne Université).
